BADSWORTH VILLAGE

Makes you proud Badsworth

I was contacted recently via the "contact page" by a website visitor from Canada who had relatives born in Badsworth in 1734 (a bit before my time) one John Pate Neville.
He was hoping to visit our fair village in September and asked for any information I could give him.
He visited the village last month and here is what he had to say.

Hi Barry

We had an absolutely wonderful time in your village. And what a lovely place!! We never were able to get a response from the minister at the church but Christine who is secretary was gracious to come over and opened the church for us at the last minute. And that was very helpful for us because we found a memorial plaque in the church.

We also took your advice and had lunch at the Jacobean. Marvellous!! So good that we returned the next day after our morning trip to Royston. Even had to go back to Wakefield to make the connection!

Finally, we met several folks, both in town and at the Jacobean. What friendly, helpful people live in Badsworth. I'm sort of proud to have an ancestral connection with the village, however distant and slight.

Thanks so much for the advice you gave us. It helped enormously.

Bob Clay

PS I'm not on commission with Rogerthorpe!
