River Went Walk

Badsworth River Went Walk

This walk is about 4 miles and should take approx 1hr 45 mins
The illustrations were taken in July 2008 (any updates greatfully received)
Sorry no map available at this time
From the parking area in front of the Church enter Main Street and turn right up past the post box and Grange Court swinging left at Badsworth Hall.
Continue for 100yards and turn first right down Ninevah Lane . Ignore the sign for Grove Lane and continue down Ninevah Lane.
When the tarmac finishes at Ninevah Farm carry on along the broad vehicle track. Continue past a lone house (rendered in grey) with the vehicle path now becoming a narrow green path. This remains prominent as it passes through trees to emerge in a huge field over a stile.

  The field footpath

Carry on straight across the field until you arrive at the dirt road next to the railway banking.

View back to Badsworth Track at the Railway banking
Turn right following the signs and continue along this track to the second archway through the banking.

  The Archway
Turn left as indicated and continue to the edge of the farm.

Turn right again as indicated and follow the narrow path to a small bridge

Cross over and follow the narrow path across the field - slightly to the left.
You will then arrive at the next bridge over the River Went and turn right at the stile immediately across this bridge.

Continue along the side of the river Went under the multi arch viaduct until you arrive at the water treatment plant.

  Some images along the way

  View back to Badsworth

Turn right at the water treatment plant and follow the farm track until you arrive at Thorpe lane.

Now it is decision time - Turn left and call for a well earned pint at the Rogerthorpe OR turn right to the Footpath sign and follow the Badsworth Way Footpath back into the village at the Church
